Carbon Footprints

What is Carbon Footprints? Carbon footprints means : The total amount of greenhouse gases produced to directly and indirectly support human activities, usually expressed in equivalent tons of carbon dioxide.

I have visited this site footprint to measure my footprints. Also I have another website to check my footprints and the second website was myfootprint.

The sites measures some of important things in our life such as : traveling, living, food and the amount of buying important and unimportant things.

After I have finished from measuring my footprint in this world. Unfortunately, I'm causing what is equal to 3.74 planets ! as I got from this site footprint. I couldn't believe my self so I went to a second website to measure my footprints again and the result was 1.45 planets, the second website was myfootprint. The average from the two sites was 2.62 planets! it means that I'm using a sources of 2.62 planets and causing alot of emittions in the earth.

I think its time to reduce using unimportant things. We have to close the lights everytime we leave our room. We have to use our cars when we have to otherwise we suppose to use alternatives to travel. We don't need to travel every year between the countries.

We are causing alot of CO2. It's time to co-operate and stops the emittions in our beautiful world.

Global Warming: local solutions

As we know the global warming is our present and future issue. We suppose to start changing some things, specially our way of living.
In this post ill mention some problems caused by global warming and ill give some solutions to solve these problems.

One of the main reasons of this problem is the increasing in the population. Population is in increase every single year. The demand on food, water and vulnerable natural is rising. It puts more pressure on the earth, which it leads us to build more factories to supply and cover the increasing of demands. An additional problem is new technology. As mentioned in the film of “an Inconvenient Truth” old habits plus and new technology equals dramatically altered consequences such as the atomic bomb. Another issue is our way of thinking. We keep waiting until it’s too late and something goes wrong.

Although these problems are very serious, we can take some steps to solve the problem.
One solution is, to change our luxurious living style. For example we can reuse the furniture for 10 years instead of keep changing the furniture every 3 years. It will reduce cutting the trees which helps to clean the environment. Another possibility is, we have to change our old habit especially in wars between us. We don’t need such as atomic bomb to solve our political issues! We can solve it in a friendly way, can’t we? Also we have to think in a different way, we have to start to think about the future and think about our next generations which it will suffer because of the shortage in food and water.

My opinion about what Al Gore said in his presentation that I couldn’t agree more, what he said is happening and it’s a fact. We feel the changes in the temperatures. We suppose to start thinking about the future.
In conclusion, it’s the pressure we are putting on the earth. The new technology we are creating might cause a global changing. Thinking about our future can help the earth from being the victim of our unstoppable needs.

Inconvenient Truth

Inconvenient Truth presented by Mr. Al Gore a U.S environmental activist. He started the first scene illustrating the beauty of the earth. Mr. Al Gore is trying to explain the consequences of global warming. If we know there is a problem and just ignores it, As Mark Twain’s quote:”What gets us into trouble is not what we don’t know, it’s what we know for sure that just ain’t so”.

In his presentation he explained about the vast majority of the land mass and vegetation on Earth. The land mass of the earth is very little of it is south of equator, the vast majority of it is north equator and most of vegetation is north of the equator. There is also another tragedy which is that the glaciers keep retreating every single year.

There are 40% of people on Earth get their drinking water from rivers and springs systems and the main source of these rivers and springs is the ice which it started to melt. They could see in the ice after the U.S Congress passed the Clean Air Act they could count back year by year and can see the annual layer from the melting and refreezing.

Mr. Al Gore compared between two graphs of temperature in the Northern Hemisphere and CO2 concentrations in the past 1000 years and it almost were closely fits together. Also, global warming is heating the ocean which leads to have stronger storms such as Katrina. Unfortunately, it destroyed building and roads because of the permafrost thaws. The hot and cold wind which is called Ocean Conveyor causes the Great Lakes to be formed.

There are three factors which Mr. Al Gore has mentioned in his presentation, first factor was the increasing in population which it puts more pressure on the earth, food , water, vulnerable natural demand. The second factor was the scientific and technology and the third factor was our way of thinking, because we have to think about the consequences of global warming before it’s too late.
We can help the economy by using more efficient appliances.
An Inconvenient Truth is a problem which forces us to change our way of living. In conclusion, the global warming is caused by the emission of CO2 which is kept between the atmosphere and the lands and causes to heat up the earth.
